Job Description

As a QA Intern at smallcase, you will play a crucial role in the product development lifecycle. Your primary focus will be on backend services, where you will develop comprehensive test plans, identify system issues, and collaborate closely with development teams to implement robust solutions. You will be heavily involved in API testing and validation, reading through Swagger documentation to create effective test scenarios, and running automated tests to ensure functional reliability and performance.
This remote position operates in a team-oriented, Agile environment. It is ideal for candidates who are comfortable writing automated test scripts in Java using REST Assured, executing Postman scripts, and actively participating in code reviews to provide constructive feedback.

Test Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases specifically tailored for backend services.
API Automation: Perform automated testing using REST Assured (Java) to validate the functionality, reliability, and performance of APIs.
Script Management: Create, maintain, and execute Postman scripts for API testing and validation.
Defect Tracking: Collaborate closely with development teams to rapidly identify, document, and resolve software defects, utilizing Swagger documentation to understand APIs.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving existing test automation frameworks, participate actively in code reviews, and analyze test results for clear stakeholder communication.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Experience: 0-6 years of experience in backend testing and quality assurance.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in REST Assured with Java, including writing and executing automated test scripts.
Tools & Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Postman for scripting, and familiarity with Swagger documentation for API testing.
Soft Skills: Good analytical, debugging, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and an acute attention to detail.
Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Knowledge of core performance testing concepts and basic familiarity with testing tools.
Experience using version control systems like Git.
Exposure to additional UI/Backend automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG) is a plus.
