Key Responsibilities

As an active member of Expedia’s B2B travel technology pod, your core daily routines will involve the following workflows:
Collaborative Engineering: Team up directly with senior engineers and peers to architect, code, and solve technical complexities on distributed systems.
Application Development: Build, compile, test, and document software modules to ensure all operational layers adhere strictly to design benchmarks.
Code Refinement: Apply basic computer science fundamentals to ensure all developed code bases are modular, highly optimized, maintainable, and clean.
System Integration: Support the seamless connection of microservices, third-party libraries, and APIs by thoroughly studying application feature pathways.
Observability & Alignment: Keep transparent communication channels up-to-date regarding active milestone updates, and ensure code outputs directly align with broader business objectives.

To successfully pass the screening process for the Software Development Engineer I vacancy at Expedia Group, candidates must possess the following skill foundations and credentials:
Educational Credentials: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an allied technical domain, or equivalent professional validation.
Experience Factor: Between 6 months and 2 years of practical, professional software engineering experience.
Independent Development: Proven capability to build and deploy at least 3 distinct software applications or projects independently.
Programming Stack: High core proficiency and coding capabilities in either Java or Scala languages.
Data Architectures: Strong fundamental understanding of common data patterns, data structures, and structural storage concepts.
Theoretical Engineering: Foundational mastery of standard software development theories, computational methodologies, object-oriented concepts, and clean design patterns.
Validation Skills: Basic hands-on familiarity with writing code tests, implementing baseline system monitoring metrics, and performance debugging procedures.
