Job Description

  • As an Associate Engineer, you will be performing rigorous structural analysis of aircraft components and assemblies as part of a globally integrated team. Your daily tasks will include evaluating structural integrity utilizing classical hand calculations as well as the finite element method (FEM). You will be deeply involved in calculating loads, conducting static, fatigue, damage-tolerance, and vibration analyses.
  • Working at Collins Aerospace demands a high attention to detail and an ability to thrive in extremely aggressive schedules. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and business units in the USA, documenting strength check notes and suggesting innovative solutions to resolve complex stress analysis concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Analysis: Perform comprehensive calculations of loads, including static, fatigue, damage-tolerance, and vibration analysis on aircraft assemblies.
  • Integrity Evaluation: Evaluate the structural integrity of components using both classical hand calculations and finite element methods.
  • Load Path Mapping: Draw Free Body Diagrams (FBDs) based on structural load paths, and generate applied, interface, and internal loads distributions.
  • Documentation: Prepare formal and informal documentation of strength check notes and revise existing stress reports utilizing MS Office products.
  • Project Management: Take responsibility for the schedule and cost for assigned portions of the project, tracking engineering metrics like OTD and FPY.
  • Global Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with USA-based business units to achieve successful job performance.

Skills & Eligibility

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in structural analysis.
  • Technical Fundamentals: Proficient in solid mechanics, machine design, and a sound understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Materials Knowledge: Good knowledge of composite materials, aircraft structural part design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Software Proficiency: Desirable experience with analysis tools such as Hypermesh, Nastran, or Patran, alongside strong MS Office skills.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal) to suggest solutions and handle aggressive project timelines.
